The process of getting accommodation
The most important part is this part. For getting/finding accommodation there are two choices of accommodation for students. A student can stay in the hostel or private flat. The hostels are preferred from the distance, transportation point of view and time consumption point of view. It will save your time and the money you spend for the fare of transportation, but the hostels everywhere in India are very expensive and the hostel life is not as comfortable as private residences.
The other choice is getting a private flat. It is not easy to find residence in Pune city. May be it is easy in the other cities other than Pune. If you have a relative/friend, try to confirm your accommodation in advance. Your friend/relative who are already studying in India; may be are accommodated. Request them to reserve a place for your either they or in the hostel or living in a private flat. If you come in a group of students (both ICCR and self-finance) share a flat near the college where you study. The distance of your college to the residence is as important as finding residence. It may not be suitable and affordable for a student, economically, to commute every day the distance of 10-15 Km every day. The maximum distance shouldn’t cross 5 km to your college.

Now it is time for admission

The ICCR office only declares the university and the course of study which is not changeable later on. The self-finance students are free to get admission to any university, any college and for any course. They can cancel their admission any time they want while ICCR students/scholars are restricted from such condition. When a student reach the respective city they are willing to study; the ICCR scholars/students only need to go to university and declare the college carefully, for their studies because you will remain for all your course duration compulsory in that college. So it’s advised to listen to your friends, which colleges they suggest you for a specific course, because some colleges are good to teach Science in the best way, while the same college might not be good in Social Science.
The self-finance students still have things to do. They must go to their admission themselves, at the university and pay some amount in $US including the administration and medical checkup and health insurance fees. Don’t misunderstand it with the course fee which is paid in the college separately due to the course you have chosen. It may differ among the colleges. Whenever the student paid the university fees, they are provided with an admission letter on the chosen college and student will pay the college fees for the selected course, then they can join the lectures. ICCR students can join the lectures after they fill out the admission form. No need for paying. ICCR will pay the amount. Prepare for studies…….!!!
